Grace Centers of Hope- William A. Davis Women & Childrens Center
In this project the building provides an environment of transformation for hundreds of women and children recovering from addiction, abuse and rejection. Previously a church, a small 3-story vibrant blue addition creates the new “front door” for the Center. The addition uses a palette of cement fiber panels, lap siding and glass to articulate internal program elements and bring balance to the façade. On the opposite side of the building a highly visible zigzag wall provides a secure and private outdoor area for the women. On the interior you will find a non-institutional setting with family/ group areas, bright and cheerful children’s play room, well-appointed bathing and laundry facilities, large open dining room and kitchen and 25 comfortable bedrooms. There are also counseling and education areas to help these women eventually leave the program with dignity, self-confidence and self-worth, prepared for a new and productive future.
